I wait for day in and day out
Under the shadow of the sun,
Beneath the heat of the moon,
Howling my heart out.
Still, no response I get.
Becoming restless and agitated,
I switch on and off the hurting light
Taking away brightness from my eye.
Sometimes, the thought creeps inside –
Has the fire, ignited once,
Leaving behind just a dead altar?
My heart consoles my mind,
Preventing it from playing the devil’s trick,
Reassuring, it’s just a silent wind,
Reaffirming, the Albatross is not far behind…
