Writing is such a career that is still looked down upon in the Indian society. If you turn out to be the next Rabindranath Tagore, the society will worship you. However, when you are still a toddler in the world of writing, claiming that you are a writer takes a lot of guts because of the humiliation that follows most of the time.

Over the past few months, many young writers and bloggers have complained that they have to hide their talent from their near ones because they usually do not get the support that they desire and deserve. My heart reaches out to them instantly because I have gone through the same thing before. However, do you know how to deal with this problem? Why don’t you read on and discover my secrets?Pursue Your Passion: Writing is an art that transports you to a beautiful world that you can pen down with the help of your creativity. It takes a lot of patience, creativity, and hard work to produce something unique for your readers. If this comes to you naturally then be proud of your talent. However, if it is something you continue despite the others discouraging you, understand that this is where your passion lies. No matter how difficult the scenario becomes, never ignore your passion because as Paulo Coelho had rightly said,

Pursue Your Passion: Writing is an art that transports you to a beautiful world that you can pen down with the help of your creativity. It takes a lot of patience, creativity, and hard work to produce something unique for your readers. If this comes to you naturally then be proud of your talent. However, if it is something you continue despite the others discouraging you, understand that this is where your passion lies. No matter how difficult the scenario becomes, never ignore your passion because as Paulo Coelho had rightly said, “When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.” I can surely say that this quote has been my inspiration throughout my period of struggle.

Prove that You Can Write: If you go around telling people that you can write well, how do you expect people to believe you? You have to show them that you can be a good writer. Take part in contests, contribute your articles to reputed websites, take up an internship as a content writer, and start your own free or paid blog. It is difficult to start, but once you take the first step you won’t have to worry.

Earn a Living: Who said writing doesn’t allow you to lead a luxurious life? I had started off my writing career by earning only INR 160. Sounds hilarious, right? Today, I earn enough so that I don’t have to get a 9 to 5 job. Well, I still can’t afford a luxury car but I definitely drive a sedan! And, see, I am not even a famous author! So, you can jolly well understand that writing can be a stable career once you know how to use your skills productively. As a starter, you can either freelance or get a job as a content writer. And, if people say that you need a degree in English Literature or Mass Communication, please inform those people that Chetan Bhagat holds a degree in business from IIM, Calcutta!

Well now that you feel a little inspired, feel free to spread your wings and fly. Don’t worry; if you need help, you can always contact me. Remember that I am only a message away.

Shreya Dutta

Years ago, when little girls were jotting down their bucket list, Shreya was lost in her dreamland in which she was immortal.
Shreya Dutta had started off writing at an early age because she believed that writing not only helped her to voice her opinion but also led her closer to immortality. With every write-up that gets published, Shreya believes that she gets embedded in the pages of history to inspire the youngsters who dream likewise. Writing is not just her passion; it is her way of taking the road less travelled.
