Duolingo App: Frame on Your Own

“Pasito..Pasito…hmm..mm…des…pa..cito…” This has been my one of my favourite song since it came out. But sadly, I could only hum. Well, until now! Duolingo got my back. A platform where we can learn any language just at figure tips.

With 200 million and still counting users, it’s regarded the most effective language-learning website and app. Luis von Ahn and Severin Hacker, the duo, launched this app in 2011, blessing the people like me with a ray of hope. Now speak foreign languages like your native. That’s why Duolingo; frame it on your own.

  1.    Many-in-one

2-in-1, 3-in-1? No, it’s so many-in-1! Duolingo has multiple languages stored inside. Depending on the language you speak, they offer courses. So, pick any of those, learn and show off fluently; be it German, Spanish, Hebrew, greek any!

  1.    Where learning is a game

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Duolingo believes it’s not just Jack but everyone. And hence, it is built on that base where learning is fun. It is more like a game than a lesson or let’s say, lesson disguised in a game.

  1.    Read, Listen, Write, Speak – all here!

To master any language, one needs to ace the skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking. This website cum app focuses on them all. And while doing so, it ensures to build strong grammar.

  1.    In-lesson Grading

Duolingo grades you right after you answer. Unlike almost everytime, the results here are given immediately and effectively. It does not only tell you the correct answer but also points out the mistakes. So, now you know what not to repeat.

  1.    ‘Heart’ the lessons, earn the ‘Coins’

The ‘Hearts’ are the lifeline of lessons, they keep your lessons alive! You may need to try again to continue, in case, run short of hearts. And once done, you get coins! So, challenge accepted?

  1.    Open discussions

Duolingo allows open discussions. For every question, one can comment, argue, discourse or debate. This feature helps to socialise and encourage learning from other fellow mates; a true classroom you see.

  1.     Carry the classes anywhere, anytime

Duolingo classes are always at your fingertips. You can carry it anytime and anywhere. Be it a boring queue line, free time during the lunch break or a flop tinder date; kill your time by actually using it right.

  1.    Free, free and absolutely free

This app is absolutely free. It has no annoying ads, no misleading in-app purchases, no subscription fee or anything. The only focus has been on learning. In fact, according to an independent study, 36 hours of Duolingo is equal to a whole university semester. While something like that might cost you a fortune, here it is available for free.

Wall Street Journal while reviewing Duolingo says “far and away the best free language-learning app.” Well, no doubt. This app doesn’t mean just fun but serious-fun. It tracks down performance and goals and sent multiple reminders like a strict coach. So, are you ready to ‘Frame on your own?’
